Intervention Specialist

Duties/Skills: Aspiranet's Family Focused Support Network (FFSN) is
designed to assist families with children who have developmental
disabilities, 80% of our clients have autism. FFSN is a practical
support program that offers tools for families to keep children with
disabilities living at home instead of in group care.
The Intervention specialist will implement the Behavior
plan developed by the Behaviorist in order to help develop new skills
and patterns with the child that can then be used by the family. Each
program includes training, family meetings and home visits designed
to improve skills and enhance the quality of life for the child and
all family members. Many families can complete the program during the
initial 9 month period; others stay on longer, depending on their specific needs.
Job Description:
1. Support children and their family by helping children in their
homes and in the community. Support may include teaching children
social skills, communication skills, self esteem, anger management,
self help skills etc. using positive reinforcement and play therapy.
2. Model appropriate behavior and communications so others can see
how to do successful child management and reinforcement.
3. Help develop and provide child-specific activities in relation to the Plan.
4. Participate in required meetings and training.
5. Be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Social Workers,
Behaviorists and Supervisors.
Position is for 10-30 hours per week. The final determination for the
number of hours is up to the individual employee. Once number of
preferred hours is established, then the employees are required to
consistently work those hours. Hours for work usually means weekday
afternoons and/or weekends which includes at least one weekend day
per week. Employees also work from their own computers to type notes
and email them to the team members. The position also pays vacation
time and mileage.
Specific Education, Certification and Skill Requirements:
Experience is not required, we will train you. This is a great job if
you are interested in Psychology, Social Work, occupational therapy,
speech therapy, or any other helping profession or if you just like
working with children. Must have a fairly clean DMV and no criminal record.
