Interval Pay

This is payment in-between semesters when school is not in session. There are certain guidelines that must be followed to receive payment:

Same School Summer Term Rules Change of School
Break doesn't exceed 8 weeks AND the terms before and after the break are not shorter than the break. PAYS, unless summer term rules apply.
Break more than 8 weeks (56 days) Doesn't Pay
Spring-Summer or Summer-Fall break doesn't exceed 8 week AND the terms before and after the break are not shorter than the break. PAYS
Interval between two summer sessions is more than 30 days. Combined days of the summer session is less than 8 weeks Doesn't Pay.
Combined days of the summer session is 8 weeks or more. PAYS
Same program Break 30 days or less. PAYS
Break more than 30 days Doesn't Pay
Change of program Doesn't Pay

Interval Pay cannot be received if:

  1. The break is more than 8 weeks.
  2. Student is on active duty.
  3. Student requests no pay for a break before payment for the break is authorized.
  4. Student withdrew from all courses during the proceeding term.
  5. Training time the last day of the proceeding term was less than one-half time.
  6. The term before or after the break is shorter than the break.
  7. The student will exhaust his or her entitlement and not paying the break is to the student's advantage.
  8. Subject to change by Regional VA at anytime.
