CURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VETERANS
The MARINE CORPS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION (MCSF). Deadlines: Graduating High School Seniors and Incoming College Freshman March 1, 2009. All Other Students: April 15, 2009. The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving sons and daughters of current or former United States Marines in their pursuit of higher education. We also provide a very limited number of scholarships to children of Navy Corpsmen who serve or have served with Marines. (See specific eligibility requirements here.)
One-year scholarships (ranging from $1,000 -$12,500) are awarded annually and are limited to undergraduate studies at accredited educational and/or technical institutions. Our "Heroes Tribute Scholarships" (of up to $30,000 over four years) are given to the children of Marines and the children of Navy Corpsmen serving with the Marines whose parent is killed in the ongoing Global War on Terror. Current scholarship recipients must reapply each year and are limited to a total of four awards.

WOMEN'S OVERSEAS SERVICE LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: March 1, 2009. Awards: $500.00 to $1000.00 annually and may be renewed for a second year if the recipient maintains and reports satisfactory progress as delineated in the scholarship award criteria.
Scholarship awards may be granted to women who
- Are committed to advancement in military or other public service careers.
- Have demonstrated such commitment through life experiences.
- Have successfully completed a minimum of 12 semester (or 18 quarter) hours of study in any institution of higher education with a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
- Are admitted for study in an institution of higher learning in a program leading to an academic degree (Associate Degree or higher). The program may be professional or technical in nature.
- Agree to enroll for a minimum of six semester (or nine quarter) hours of study each academic period.
- Agree to maintain academic standards.
Applicants must complete the Scholarship Application form in its entirety and include all documentation, including resume, transcripts, essays and references as specified on the application form.

DKF FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: Will be available soon. Awards: $5,000 scholarships for full-time university or state college applicants and $1,500 scholarships for full-time community college applicants, trade school or technical institutions. This financial award will be offered to full-time college students. To be eligible for consideration you must be a California resident attending a University, College or trade institution and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces (including US Coast Guard) who has served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) within the central command area of responsibility. Applications will also be accepted from dependents of personnel who have been killed in action or incurred disabilities, that are noted in their DD Form 214 as 75% or more, in the above-mentioned campaigns.Application and information is on http://www.dkfveterans.com.
VA MORTGAGE CENTER SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: To Be Announced. Application period will open again in early April. Five bi-yearly $1,500 scholarships in conjunction with our Military Education Scholarship Program. The process and purpose is simple - many college students currently struggle to meet the financial requirements of pursuing their education, even with the help of financial aid and other scholarship programs. THE FUND FOR VETERANS' EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP. Deadline: July 15, 2008. Award varies.
- Be veterans of any branch of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines), Coast Guard, National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves.
- Have served and been deployed for at least 60 days in Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, or be veterans who were deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq after September 11, 2001, but did not meet the 60-day active service period as a result of a service-related injury or condition incurred while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
- Be enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis in an undergraduate program of study at any accredited two-year or four-year institution, public or private, including technical schools for the Spring 2008 term. The program may continue past 2008-2009, but we are not considering applications for those not enrolled for Spring, 2008 at this time.
- Have applied for and accepted all federal, state and institutional need-based grants and all available military educational benefits.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS WARRIORS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS. The (SOWF) provides college scholarship grants, based on need, along with financial aid and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in an operational mission or training accident. Applications and additional information can be found online at:www.specialops.org.
VETERANS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. No deadline. $2500 annual award. Must be honorably discharged from any branch of the US military or Coast Guard and be enrolled or about to enroll in an entrepreneurial course of study. Completed application packets must include a current resume, academic transcript, copy of military discharge certificate, brief essay of career goals, and two letters of recommendation. AFCEA Military Scholarships
AFCEA offers scholarships to students with some connection to the U.S. Armed Forces, either as an active-duty, veteran, spouse or dependent.
College Credit for Military Programs (American Council on Education)
Find out how to receive college credit for your military training and service through the American Council on Education. ACE advises colleges, universities, and students in awarding college credit and providing transcripts for military learning.
David L. Boren Scholarships
The National Security Education Program awards David L. Boren Scholarships to outstanding U.S. undergraduates through a competitive national merit-based process. Each Boren Scholar goes abroad to a critical country to study its language and culture. Awards are for up to one academic year. Boren Scholars demonstrate their merit for an award of up to $20,000 in part by committing to work for the U.S. Government for at least one year.
DAV's Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program
The Disabled American Veterans' Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding young volunteers who give of their time by awarding annual scholarships that may be used to continue their education.
VFW Scholarships
Annually, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary distribute more than $3 million in scholarships and savings bonds to America's youth through the annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen contests.

AFCEA Military Scholarships
AFCEA offers scholarships to students with some connection to the U.S. Armed Forces, either as an active-duty, veteran, spouse or dependent.
AMVETS Scholarships
AMVETS annually awards scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.
Blinded Veterans Association Scholarship
Since the early '80s, Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) has offered spouses and dependent children of blinded veterans a chance to continue their education through the Kathern F. Gruber Scholarship Program.
